At Amgraph Packaging, we set high standards for both the work ethic of our employees, and also the products we produce. These standards are recognized around the world, and something Amgraph not only sustains, but improves upon.
What are Sustainability Standards?
First, what exactly are Sustainability Standards? They are voluntary standards usually relating to such areas such as the environment and ethics. Companies like Amgraph implement these standards to show the performance of their business and the products they produce in specific areas. The purpose is to empower decisions that create social, environmental, and economic benefits for everyone.
At Amgraph we are consistently setting and meeting industry standards when it comes to sustainability. In fact, in some cases, the company exceeds those standards, which in turn becomes the new benchmark to strive for and continue to exceed.
It’s important to understand what it means in relation to both business in general and also packaging specifically. Concerning the area of the environment, one source refers to it as “the quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance.”
The more carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere, the more damage it potentially causes the environment. How much carbon dioxide being emitted from one company is called its Carbon Footprint, and Amgraph is very much aware of ours. From the use of water-based inks and adhesives to the installation of two PureCell® System Model 400 fuel cells, Amgraph continues to do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint.
Smart Sustainability
When addressing sustainability, it is not just the end product that’s important; it’s the entire manufacturing process. When creating a product that is recyclable, if you use twice as much power and three times as much material, can it truly be considered sustainable? At Amgraph, we take every aspect of the manufacturing process into consideration.
For example: although Amgraph prints packaging using water-based inks a majority of the time, printing water-based inks on film is unfortunately not sustainable or cost effective. The practice produces more waste from raw materials, as the use of more inks and film is required. Although the technology simply doesn’t exist for water-based inks to be used effectively on film at this time, Amgraph has responded by using flexographic ink. The inks and method of printing continues to grow in popularity due to its low cost and environmentally friendly nature.
In today’s world of commerce, sustainability has become a business model for which companies like Amgraph are taking the lead. Customers continually prove to be loyal to suppliers that have shown their commitment to helping the environment. Amgraph will continue our leadership in Sustainability Standards.
